Sincona sale 93, lot 1011

This specimen was lot 1011 in Sincona sale 93 (Zürich, October 2024), where it sold for 100 CHF (about US$139 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"RUSSLAND Kaiserreich und Föderation, Peter I. 1682-1725, Kopeck 1713, Naberezhny Mint, ND. NGC AU55 BN. Leicht dezentriert, Slightly off-centered."

This type of 1713-17 is fairly common and bears a Cyrillic date. In the days of Peter the Great, kopeks were struck in billon (KM 153) as well as copper (shown here). One hundred kopeks make a ruble.

Recorded mintage: unknown.

Specification: 8.19 g, copper, this specimen 7.59 g.

Catalog reference: KM 142, Diakov 3588. Bitkin 3029ff.
