This specimen was lot 341 in Sincona sale 54 (Zürich, May 2019), where it sold for 425 CHF (about US$506 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"Frankreich, konigreich, Charles IX. 1560-1574. Ecu dor au soleil 1564 M, Toulouse. Gutes sehr schön. (kingdom of France, Charles IX, 1560-74, gold écu of the sunburst of 1564, Toulouse mint. Good very fine.)"
This coin is called the écu d'or au soleil in Duplessy[2] with a face value of fifty sols tournois and is noted with many variations in obverse and reverse legends. This is a scarce date.
Recorded mintage: 5,000, including a few demi-écus.
Specification: 3.37 g, .958 fine gold, this specimen 3.32 g.
Catalog reference: Duplessy 1057, Fr-378, Sb-4904.
