United States 1881 5 dollars rev DSLR.jpg

Unlike the Charlotte and Dahlonega issues shown elsewhere on this site, this issue is common. It has, in fact, the highest mintage of any half eagle in the series. Gems, as always, bring a premium, but average quality XF-AU specimens trade as bullion.

Recorded mintage: 5,708,802.

Specification: 8.359 g, 0.900 fine gold, .242 troy oz AGW, reeded edge.

Catalog reference: KM 101, Fr-143.
