This specimen was lot 42011 in Stack's Bowers ANA sale (Chicago, August 2024), where it sold for $810. The catalog description[1] noted, "AUSTRIA. 2 Florins (2 Gulden), 1873. Vienna Mint. Franz Joseph. PCGS MS-64. The sole finest example certified at either PCGS or NGC, bursting with wholesome appeal and exhibiting very few marks or issues." The double florin superseded the old thaler and was struck 1859-92 with various busts of Franz Josef.

Recorded mintage: 99,000, the scarcest date.

Specification: 24.69 g, 0.900 fine silver.
