This specimen was lot 7288 in Ponterio sale 152 (New York, January 2010), where it sold for $747.50. The catalog description[1] noted, "MEXICO. 2 Escudos, 1752-MF. RARE type. Edge nick. VERY FINE." All Mexican colonial gold may be considered scarce. This type was struck 1752-56. It was superseded by KM 127, struck 1757-59, which used a smaller bust. The "2 S", formerly on the reverse, was restored in 1773.
