This specimen was lot 6723 in Stack's Bowers NYINC sale (New York, January 2022), where it sold for $576. The catalog description[1] noted, "DENMARK. Rigsbankdaler, 1851-FK VS. Copenhagen Mint. Frederik Vll. NGC MS-63. A well struck coin with satiny luster and pleasing, colorful peripheral toning. Ex. R.L. Lissner Collection." This two year type (1849 and 1851), like many European minors, is scandalously undervalued. After the reform of 1854, the monetary system was 96 skillings = 1 rigsdaler, two rigsdaler = 1 (old) speciedaler. In 1874, the coinage was reformed again to the current system of 100 øre = 1 krone.
Recorded mintage: unknown.
Specification: 14.44 g, 0.875 fine silver, .406 troy oz ASW.
