Sweden SB620-73562r.jpg

This specimen was lot 73562 in Stack's Bowers Collector's Choice sale (Santa Ana, CA, June 2020), where it sold for $336. The catalog description[1] noted, "SWEDEN. 50 Ore, 1939-G. Stockholm Mint. NGC PROOF-65. Whether these issues are indeed proof strikings or merely prooflike is uncertain, though they are clearly RARE and carry a premium over the regular business strike issues. Deep gunmetal gray surfaces, with a high degree of brilliance and charming color." This type is listed for 1911-19 and 1927-39. The early dates are scarce compared to the later dates.

Recorded mintage: 921,750 plus proofs.

Specification: 5 g, 0.600 fine silver, 22 mm diameter.

Catalog reference: KM 788.
