Stack's Bowers 2025 NYINC sale, lot 32077

This specimen was lot 32077 in Stack's Bowers NYINC sale (New York, January 2025), where it sold for $900. The catalog description[1] noted, "GERMANY. Wurttemberg. 5 Mark, 1900-F. Stuttgart Mint. Wilhelm II. PCGS MS-65. A fresh and flashy Gem specimen of this relatively elusive date, offering bright yellow-golden toning and tied with only two other examples at the peak of the PCGS census." Altho all the various states of the German Empire were entitled to strike silver five mark coins, many emitted only a few. This Wurttemberg type is known for 1892-1913 and is quite common.

Recorded mintage: 211,000 plus proofs.

Specification: 27.77 g, 0.900 fine silver, 38 mm diameter, lettered edge.
