This specimen was lot 99089 in Heritage sale 61259 (Dallas, TX, February 2022), where it sold for $79. The catalog description[1] noted, "France: Louis XV 1/3 Ecu 1722-X VF Details (Obverse Scratched) NGC, Amiens mint. 1/3 Ecu de France. Flan Neuf. Deeply toned. Ex. Stephen Album Auction 19 (May 2014, Lot 2157)." The type was struck 1720-23 in large numbers while the adventurer John Law dominated the French government. Many were struck over petit Louis d'argent struck in 1720. Worth 3 livres on its introduction, it was reduced in steps to 1 livre 6 sols 8 deniers in September 1724.

Recorded mintage: 196,560 fn[2], a better date despite the substantial mintage.
