This specimen was lot 846 in Sedwick Treasure Auction 28 (Winter Park, FL, November 2020), where it sold for $540. The catalog description[1] noted, "France (Bordeaux mint), copper 1/2 sol, Louis XV, 1722-K, NGC AU 50 BN, finest and only example in NGC census. Deep chocolate-brown color, bold strike with only light high-point wear, top grade for this scarce mint." This demi-sol au buste enfantin was struck 1719-24 and is common in worn condition but choice specimens are very scarce. In 1722, Metz ("AA"), Rouen ("B") and La Rochelle ("H") also struck this type. The next issue of demi-sols would be in 1767.

Recorded mintage: unknown but a better date.

Specification: 6.11 g, copper, 25 mm diameter.
