This specimen is one of a type struck at the Ottawa Mint for Canada 1982-89. The prior type (KM 127) was 2.8 g. Blunt and pointed '5' varieties exist for the date. In 1990, the dePedery-Hunt bust of the queen was adopted. The production of cents was terminated in 2012.
Recorded mintage: 771,772,500 plus 157,037 proofs.
Specification: 2.50 g, bronze, 19.05 mm diameter, plain edge.
