Sincona sale 95, lot 4644

This specimen was lot 4644 in Sincona sale 95 (Zurich, October 2024), where it did not sell. The catalog description[1] noted,

"SCHWEIZ Zürich, Stadt und Kanton, Taler 1662, Zürich. Fast sehr schön. (Switzerland, canton of Zürich, thaler of 1662, Zürich mint. About Very Fine.)"

This type was struck 1661-63 and 1665 and is reasonably common for a Swiss thaler, which still counts as very scarce.

Record mintage: unknown.

Specification: 28 g, silver, 39 mm diameter, this specimen 28.45 g.

Catalog reference: KM 89.1, D.T. 1076b, HMZ 2-1146n, Dav-4649.
