Sincona sale 84, lot 168

This specimen was lot 168 in Sincona sale 84 (Zurich, October 2023), where it sold for 550 CHF (about US$741 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"RUSSIA Russian Empire and Federation, Rouble 1795, St. Petersburg Mint, SPB AK. 4 roubles according to Petrov. 3 roubles according to Ilyin. Good very fine. Nicely toned."

This type is noted for 1783-96 and is among the common rubles of Catherine II. Assayer IC is also listed for 1795.

Recorded mintage: 677,000 (both assayers).

Specification: 24 g, 0.750 fine silver, this specimen 23.52 g.
