Sincona sale 84, lot 432

This specimen was lot 432 in Sincona sale 84 (Zurich, October 2023), where it sold for 325 CHF (about US$438 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"RUSSIA Russian Empire and Federation, 10 Kopecks 1865, St. Petersburg Mint, SPB NF. NGC MS65. Nicely toned."

This subtype was struck 1860-66. In 1867, the weight of the twenty kopeks was reduced from 4.14 g, 0.750 fine silver to 3.60 g, 0.500 fine silver and struck in that form until the collapse of the regime.

Recorded mintage: 3,886,000, a slightly better date.

Specification: 2.07 g, 0.750 fine silver, this specimen 2.05 g.
