This specimen was lot 64 in Sedwick Auction 36 (Winter Park, FL, November 2024), where it sold for $. The catalog description[1] noted, "COLOMBIA, Bogotá, gold cob 2 escudos, 1707 no assayer (Arce). AU+ with bold full cross-and-tressure (well centered) showing all four dimple-rings but just the bottom tips of the date, nearly full shield with lions sitting on their rumps (a style that began the year before), sediment in crevices." This type was struck 1694-1713 for Charles II and into the reign of Philip V. The posthumous dates lack a mintmark or assayers' initials.
