Künker sale 293, lot 2195

This specimen was lot 2195 in Künker sale 293 (Osnabruck, Germany, July 2017), where it sold for €1,100 (about US$1,483 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"SCHWEDEN, KÖNIGREICH, Adolf Friedrich, 1751-1771. 1/2 Riksdaler 1755, Stockholm. Vorzüglich. (kingdom of Sweden, Adolf Frederick, 1751-71, half riksdaler of 1755, Stockholm mint. Extremely fine.)"

This type of 1752-55 and 1766 is scarce. It was accompanied by a quarter thaler (KM 469.1), single thaler (Dav-1731) and a ducat (KM 465). The first half riksdaler was struck in 1723 and the last in 1768 and was never produced in large quantities.

Recorded mintage: 39,000.

Specification: 14.62 g, 0.878 fine silver.

Catalog reference: Ahlström 64; SMH 10.3, KM-470.
