Sweden 1768-AL 1/2 riksdaler
This specimen was lot 1616 in Sincona sale 76 (Zürich, May 2022), where it sold for 2,800 CHF (about US$3,399 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"SWEDEN. Adolph Friedrich, 1751-1771. 1/2 Riksdaler 1768, Stockholm. Mit der Signatur AL (Albrekt Lindberg, Münzmeister in Stockholm, 1762-1773). Vorzüglich-FDC. NGC UNC Details. Feine Patina. Kratzer auf dem Avers. (kingdom of Sweden, Adolf Frederick, 1751-71, half riksdaler of 1768, Stockholm mint, with mintmaster's initials "AL". Extremely fine-uncirculated, Nicely toned, Scratch on obverse.)"
This type was struck 1767-68 and is very scarce, considerably more so than KM 470 of 1752-55 and 1766, which has the date at upper left. There is also an eighth riksdaler (KM 487), a quarter riksdaler (KM 488) and a full riksdaler (KM 490.2) for 1768.
Recorded mintage: 6,476 plus 7,066 of KM 470.
