A two escudos struck at the Lima mint of a type issued 1828-29. A slightly modified design (KM 149.2) was issued 1850-55 and is quite a bit more common. This specimen was lot 2385 in Goldberg sale 34 (Beverly Hills, February 2006), where it sold for $280. The catalog description[1] noted, "Peru. 2 Escudos, 1829-JM (Lima). Liberty standing holding shield and pole. Reverse: Arms. Very Fine."

Specification: 6.85 g, .875 fine gold, .190 troy oz AGW.
