Shown is a ''dixième d'écu aux trois couronnes'' (tenth écu with three crowns) struck at the Lille mint in the last days of Louis XIV's reign. This is the only tenth écu struck during the [[France|French]] Sun King's life. The type was struck 1709-15 in substantial numbers. There are also 1/4, 1/2 and one écus struck during this period with this design. Many were restruck during the first years of Louis XV so not as many survive as one might think.
