This type was struck in Lisbon 1867-79. King Luis ruled 1861-1889 and in 1882 reduced the weight of the copper five, ten and twenty reis. This five réis piece is one of the common of the eleven dates.
Recorded mintage: 1,080,000.
Specification: 6.3 g, bronze, 27 mm diameter, plain edge.
