Künker sale 293, lot 348

This specimen was lot 348 in Künker sale 293 (Osnabruck, Germany, July 2017), where it sold for €800 (about US$1,078 including buyer's fees). The catalog description^[1] noted,

"PREUSSEN, KÖNIGREICH Friedrich II. der Große, 1740-1786. Reichstaler preuß. 1770, A, Berlin. Selten in dieser Erhaltung. Min. Schrötlingsfehler, vorzüglich-Stempelglanz. (Germany, kingdom of Prussia, Frederick II (the Great), 1740-86, thaler of 1770, Berlin mint. Scarce in this quality, tiny edge defect, extremely fine to uncirculated.)"

This type was struck 1764-74 at Berlin (shown here), Breslau, Königsberg, Cleve and Magdeburg. While many individual dates are rare, the type is common in circulated condition.
