Sincona sale 78, lot 595

This specimen was lot 595 in Sincona sale 78 (Zurich, October 2022), where it sold for 100 CHF (about US$120 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted, "RUSSIA | Russian Empire and Federation | Nicholas II. 1894-1917, Poltina 1913, St. Petersburg Mint, VS. Extremely fine." This date, from a type struck 1895-1914, is common for the type. Assayer EB, also reported for 1913, is quite scarce. The fifty kopeks replaced the old poltina or half ruble.

Recorded mintage: 6,420,000 (both assayers).

Specification: 10 g, .900 fine silver, this specimen 10.01 g.

Catalog reference: KM Y58.2, Bitkin 93.
