Peru 1896 quinto sol rev DSLR.jpg

This quinto was struck 1888-1917 in Lima, Peru. Most dates are readily available but 1914, 1915 and 1917 are scarce. For 1896 there are no known overdates, but two assayer initial combinations are known: F and TF. The type was replaced by a copper-nickel twenty centavos in 1918. An earlier type, with a slightly different figure of seated Liberty, was struck 1863-75 (KM 191).

Recorded mintage: 586,000 (assayers F and TF).

Specification: 5 g, 0.900 fine silver, reeded edge.

Catalog reference: KM 205.2.
