This specimen was lot 30359 in Heritage sale 3040 (Chicago, April 2015), where it sold for $4,465. The catalog description[1] noted, "Republic gold 100 Soles 1970 MS65 NGC, Lima mint. A low-mintage date with glassy fields and raised devices that rise in bold relief." The type was struck in Lima 1950-70 in limited numbers as a bullion coin. This date is scarce; some dates are rare (<200 pieces). Gold five, ten, twenty and fifty soles were struck during the same period.

Recorded mintage: 425.

Specification: 46.80 g, .900 fine gold, 1.354 troy oz AGW.
