This specimen was lot 34628 in Heritage sale 3082 (New York, January 2020), where it sold for $1,920. The catalog description[1] noted, "Peru: Republic gold 50 Soles 1970 MS66 NGC, Lima mint." This denomination, struck 1950-70, was theoretically a circulating coin but actually was a bullion piece like her sisters, the gold five, ten, twenty and hundred soles.
