This type was struck 1667-1700 at Potosi. This specimen was lot 335 in Stacks-Bowers NYINC sale (New York, January 2015), where it sold for $4,993.75. The catalog description[1] noted, "BOLIVIA. 8 Reales Royal, 1682-PV. Charles II (1665-1700). NGC VF-30. Fully round 'Royal' presentation strike on a specially prepared planchet. Struck on a large round 42.5 mm planchet allowing for full legends on both sides. Minimal doubling, well applied type II Guatemalan countermark of 1839 on obverse. Well defined, lightly toned and highly attractive for type."
