Áureo sale 258, lot 213

This specimen was lot 213 in Áureo & Calicó sale 258 (Barcelona, March 2014), where it sold for 8,000 euro (about US$11,027). The catalog description noted,

"1749. Fernando VI. Madrid. JB. 4 escudos. (Falta en V.Q. y Carles Tolrà). Sin indicación de valor. Bellísima. Parte de brillo original. Ex Colección Caballero de las Yndias, nº 2064. Muy rara y más así. EBC/EBC+. (1749 four escudos of Ferdinand VI, Madrid mint, without indication of value. Very handsome, some original luster, very rare thus, good extremely fine.)"

This type was issued at Madrid 1747-49. All the early four escudos of Spain are rare and expensive.
