This specimen is one of a type struck in Berlin for Prussia 1861-73. In 1871, the currency was reformed to use pfennig and marks and the groschen was dropped. This type was also struck at Hannover ("B") and Frankfurt ("C").
Recorded mintage: unknown but common.
Specification: 1.09 g, .222 fine silver.
