This specimen was lot 74432 in Stack's Bowers Collector's Choice sale (Costa Mesa, CA, February 2023), where it sold for $2,040. The catalog description[1] noted, "POLAND. Danzig. 5 Gulden, 1932. Berlin Mint. NGC AU-55. Featuring a grain elevator and a harbor scene, this near-Mint example exudes pleasing even gray surfaces and stands as an ever-popular and fairly SCARCE type." This is one of two five gulden issued in 1932, the other (KM 156) depicting a famous church. Both are rather expensive considering the mintage, suggesting that they were not released in any quantity. Danzig, long part of Prussia and then Germany, was briefly independent 1919-39. Annexed by the Nazis, it fell to Poland in 1945 and was renamed Gdansk.
