This specimen was lot 3054 in Sincona sale 39 (Zurich, May 2017), where it did not sell. The catalog description[1] noted,
"Brandenburg-Prussia, Joachim II. 1535-1571 Groschen 1538. Stendal. Selten. Gutes sehr schön. (Germany, electorate of Brandenburg, Joachim II, 1535-71, groschen of 1538. Rare. Good very fine.)"
In the sixteenth century, Brandenburg was an insignificant state in the north of Germany, overshadowed by Saxony. We don't know if this coin circulated in Brandenburg or in the duchy of Prussia or both nor can we read the date.
Recorded mintage: unknown.
Specification: silver or billon, this specimen is 1.95 g.
