Künker sale 335, lot 5140

This specimen was lot 5140 in Künker sale 335 (Osnabruck, Germany, March 2020), where it sold for €800 (about US$1,047 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"Carlo I. 1627-1637. Scudo o. J. (1630), geprägt während der Belagerung im Mantuanischen Erbfolgekrieg, 1629-1630. NIHIL · ISTO - T - R - ISTE · RECEPTO St. Andreas mit Kreuz steht v. v. im Abschnitt · MAN · OBSES ·//(Hostiengefäß) DOMINE · PROBASTI · ME · TE(verschlungen) · COGNOVISTI · ME Schmelztiegel mit Silberzainen in loderndem Feuer. RR Unregelmäßiger Schrötling, sehr schön. Aus der Sammlung Eberhard Link. Exemplar der Auktion Auctiones 17, Basel 1988, Nr. 1294. (Italy, duchy of Mantua, Charles I, 1627-37, undated scudo, struck during the siege of the War of the Mantuan Succession, 1629-30. Obverse: St. Andrew with his cross; reverse: crowned arms in flames. Very rare, irregular edge, very fine.)"

This siege coin accompanied another scudo (Dav-3956) and a half scudo (KM 134).
