This diminutive coin, called a ''vingtième d'écu au bandeau'', was the French equivalent of a half dime. In the coinage system of the ancien régime, the ''vingtième d'écu'' = 6 sols. The type was struck 1740-69 with Metz issues known for 1740, 1744, 1748-49, 1760, 1765, 1769. This date is not mentioned in Droulers<sup>[2]</sup>. This specimen was lot 1820 in Jean Elsen sale 152 (Brussels, September 2022), where it sold for €160 (about US$193 including buyer's fees). The type was struck 1740-69 with Metz issues known for 1740, 1744, 1748-49, 1760, 1765, 1769. This date is not mentioned in Droulers[2]. This specimen was lot 1820 in Jean Elsen sale 152 (Brussels, September 2022), where it sold for €160 (about US$193 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
