This specimen was lot 72607 in Stack's Bowers Collector's Choice sale (Costa Mesa, CA, June 2021), where it sold for $144. The catalog description[1] noted, "NETHERLANDS EAST INDIES. Batavian Republic (French interregnum). Java. 1/2 Stuiver, 1810-Z. Zeeland Mint. Louis Napoleon. NGC EF-45 Brown. Variety with "Z" below "81" of date. A dark toned and wholesome coin, well struck on the central design elements and free of distracting marks." This type was struck 1810-11 by a shortlived French administraton (note the "LN" monogram), along with a stuiver. The British captured Java in 1811. Dutch independence was restored and Java was returned to the Dutch at the Congress of Vienna, much to the chagrin of the local traders, led by Stamford Raffles. Stymied in Java, he went on to establish Singapore.

Recorded mintage: unknown.

Specification: copper, 6 g, 25 mm diameter.

Catalog reference: KM-228, Scholten-576.
