Künker sale 335, lot 5269

This specimen was lot 5269 in Künker sale 335 (Osnabruck, Germany, March 2020), where it sold for €1,800 (about US$2,356 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"POLEN, KÖNIGREICH, Stanislaus August, 1764-1795. 1/2 Konv.-Taler 1772, AP, Warschau. RR Vorderseite leicht berieben, sehr schön-vorzüglich. (kingdom of Poland, Stanislaus Augustus, 1764-95, half convention thaler of 1772, Warsaw mint. Rare, obverse lightly tooled, very fine to extremely fine.)"

This type was struck 1768, 1772-82. One half thaler = four zlotych. Stanislas August Poniatowski was the last king of independent Poland.

Recorded mintage: 11,000.

Specification: 14.03 g, 0.833 fine silver, this specimen 13.91 g.
