This specimen was lot 1662 in Stephen Album sale 30 (Santa Rosa, CA, January 2018), where it sold for $223.25. The catalog description[1] noted, "MAURITIUS: Victoria, 1952-1968, AE 2 cents, 1962, VIP proof of record, almost entirely red, virtually no brown, NGC graded PF63 RBC." This type was struck 1953-78 in moderate quantities tho no date is rare. Proofs are scarce. The portrait is of Elizabeth II, not Victoria as stated in the catalog description.
Recorded mintage: 250,000 plus proofs.
Specification: 3.85 g, bronze, 23.2 mm diameter.
