This specimen was lot 72310 in Stack's Bowers Collector's Choice sale (Santa Ana, CA, October 2019), where it sold for $264. The catalog description[1] noted, ""HONG KONG. 10 Cents, 1956-KN. Kings Norton Mint. PCGS SPECIMEN-65 Gold Shield. A majestic Gem issue, this blazing piece offers a mix of mint red and burgundy highlighting its appeal. Only five have been certified finer by PCGS. Ex: Kings Norton Mint Collection." This type was struck at the Heaton and King's Norton Mints 1955-1968 and this date is listed as fairly common in all grades. This module and alloy was introduced in 1948 and used until 1982, when the denomination was reduced to 2 grams. British coinage for Hong Kong ceased in 1997 when the island was returned to China. The bust of Queen Elizabeth II appears on the obverse.
Recorded mintage: 2,500,000 plus a few specimens.
Specification: 4.46 g, nickel-brass, security edge, 20.5 mm diameter.
