This specimen was lot 24370 in Stack's Bowers NYINC sale (Newport Beach, CA, January 2021), where it sold for $144. The catalog description[1] noted, "NETHERLANDS. 25 Cents, 1968. Utrecht Mint; privy mark: fish. PCGS PROOF-66 Gold Shield. Tied with just four others for the finest in the PCGS census, this shimmering and vibrant Gem offers a great mirrored nature and stunning brilliance." Queen Wilhelmina abdicated in 1948 in protest of Dutch colonial policy in Indonesia in favor of her daughter, Juliana, who would rule until 1980. New coin types were therefore necessary and were introduced in 1950. This nickel twenty-five cents was struck without change until 1980. No dates are rare.
