SB121-24361r.jpg

This specimen was lot 24361 in Stack's Bowers NYINC sale (Newport Beach, CA, January 2021), where it sold for $85. The catalog description[1] noted, "NETHERLANDS. 5 Cents, 1933. Utrecht Mint. Wilhemina. PCGS MS-64 Gold Shield. A fairly RARE date, this square-shaped denomination offers steely gray surfaces and some alluring, shimmering brilliance." The specimen is a scarce date of a type struck at the Utrecht mint for the Netherlands 1913-14, 1923-40. Most of the dates are common. Post war issues featured a bust of the queen and were struck in bronze.

Recorded mintage: 1,400,000.

Specification: 4.5 g, copper-nickel, 21.3 mm diameter, plain edge.

Catalog reference: KM-153, Sch-920.
