Lebanon 1980 25 piastres rev DSLR.jpg

This specimen was issued by Lebanon as a regular issue. It is the last coin of this denomination. An earlier, very similar type was issued 1968-75. In 1980, a vicious war broke out between Christian and Muslim militias and soon the Israeli and Syrian armies were occupying various parts of that unhappy land. The cedar is the symbol of Lebanon, once forested with this handsome tree.

Recorded mintage: unknown but common.

Specification: nickel-brass, 23.3 mm diameter.

Catalog reference: KM 27.2.
