This specimen was lot 40077 in Stack's Bowers ANA sale (Philadelphia, August 2018), where it sold for $288. The catalog description[1] noted, "COLOMBIA. 1804-JT Escudo. Popayán mint. Carlos IV (1788-1808). EF Detail — Cleaned (PCGS). The first issue of this denomination from the JT assayer. Light yellow gold with some toning and a natural looking surface despite some obverse hairlines. Very pleasing overall. From the Eldorado Collection of Colombian Coins. Ex. Hans M.F. Schulman's sale of February 1973, lot 250." This type was struck at Nuevo Reino (Bogotá) and Popayán 1791-1808 and is a common gold coin of Charles IV.
