Sincona sale 79, lot 1143

This specimen was lot 1143 in Sincona sale 79 (Zürich, October 2022), where it sold for 18,000 CHF (about US$21,573 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted, "GREAT BRITAIN | Königreich, Commonwealth, 1649-1660. Unite of 20 shillings 1660, London. Mintmark anchor. 14 laurel leaves. Extremely rare. NGC VF35. Slightly weakly struck." This unite, struck 1658 and 1660, is among the last issues of the Commonwealth. Recorded mintage: unknown.

Specification: 9 g, 0.917 fine gold, this specimen is 8.93 g.

Catalog reference: KM 395.2, Spink 3209, Bull 31, Fr-269.
