Künker sale 352, lot 1161

This specimen was lot 1161 in Künker sale 352 (Osnabrück, Germany, September 2021), where it sold for €2,200 (about US$3,062 including buyer's fees). The catalog description^[1] noted,

"Christian V. 1670-1699. Dukat o. J. (1699), Kopenhagen, auf seinen Tod. GOLD. RR Min. beschnitten, winz. Druckstelle, vorzüglich. (kingdom of Denmark, Christian V, 1670-99, undated ducat, Copenhagen mint, on the death of the king. Rare, minor clipping, field marks, extremely fine.)"

Two ducats were issued to mark the death of the king (KM 454 and KM 455) and two double ducats (KM 458 and KM 459) and another for the coronation of his successor (KM 456) with a double ducat (KM 461).
