Stephen Album sale 50, lot 658

This specimen was lot 658 in Stephen Album sale 50 (Santa Rosa, CA, September 2024), where it sold for $228. The catalog description[1] noted, "DANISH INDIA: TRANQUEBAR: Frederik III, 1648-1670, lead kas, ND, crowned F3 // swan right, with worm in its beak and letter S at lower left, choice XF, RR, ex Solar Collection." The Danish fort at Tranquebar was sold to the British in 1845. This lead cash was struck in over ninety varieties during the reign of Frederik III (died 1670).
