The first specimen was part of lot 23308 in Heritage sale 3020 (Long Beach, September 2012), where it sold for $2,820. The catalog description[1] noted, "Collection of Silver 640 Reis, a great date run of this larger denomination with many scarce dates and varieties included. Grades are surprisingly nice with most coins in the Fine to VF category." This type was struck 1818-22 at Rio (KM 325.2, common), 1820 at Bahia (KM 325.3, scarce) and 1818 at Minas Gerais (KM 325.1, very rare). This specimen appears to be holed and plugged, to be expected in a bulk lot.

Recorded mintage: unknown.

Specification: 19.32 g, 0.917 fine silver.

Catalog reference: KM 325.2.
