This specimen was lot 25006 in Heritage sale 3030 (New York, January 2014), where it sold for $5,581.25. The catalog description[1] noted, "Nicholas II 50 Kopecks 1908 ЭБ, St. Petersburg mint, MS63 NGC. An extremely rare issue and the finest example we have seen. Slightly dusky golden patina with nice definition and minor edge bumps." This is a scarce date of a type struck 1894-1914. The fifty kopeks replaced the old poltina or half ruble.

Recorded mintage: 40,000.

Specification: 10 g, .900 fine silver.
