This specimen was lot 582 in Sincona sale 78 (Zürich, October 2022), where it sold for 150,000 CHF (about US$179,775 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted, "RUSSIA | Russian Empire and Federation | Nicholas II. 1894-1917, 25 Roubles - 2 1/2 Imperials 1908, St. Petersburg Mint. Probably on his 40th birthday. Extremely rare, officially only 175 pieces struck. NGC MS60." A few were also made in 1896.
Recorded mintage: 150 plus a few proofs.
