This specimen was lot 343 in Stack's Coin Galleries sale (New York, October 2010), where it sold for $977.50. The catalog description[1] noted,
"AUSTRIA. Leopold as Count of Tirol, 1626-1632. 2 Taler (1626). Hall. Crowned conjoined busts in elaborate ruffs of Leopold and Claudia de Medici. Rv. Eagle of Tirol in dotted circle, titles DVX. BVRGVNDIAE. COMES. TIROLIS: struck on a pleasingly thick planchet by roller die, boasting delightful late Renaissance portraits. Scattered minor tics, old cabinet toning. Choice Extremely Fine."
While most Austrian multiple thalers are rare, this one, issued for the wedding of the duke, is only scarce. The SCWC also shows a klippe version of this design, struck on a square blank (Dav-3331A, KM 640).
