This specimen was lot 2407 in Goldberg sale 100 (Los Angeles, September 2017), where it sold for $1,175. The catalog description[1] noted, "Portugal. 200 Escudos, 1992. Columbus in the New World. Choice Brilliant Proof." This type was struck in copper-nickel, silver, gold, platinum and palladium, resulting in a plethora of subtypes. Several other 200 escudos commemoratives were issued in 1992 (KM 661, KM 662, KM 663).

Recorded mintage: KM 660: 1,300,000; KM 660a: 10,000 + 15,000 proofs; KM 660b: 6,000 proofs; KM 660c: 2,500 proofs; KM 660d: 2,500 proofs.

Specification: KM 660 (Cu-Ni, 36 mm diameter), KM 660a (26.5 g, 0.925 fine silver), KM 660b (27.2 g, 0.917 fine gold), KM 660c (31.12 g, 0.999 fine platinum), KM 660d (31.12 g, palladium).
