Goldberg sale 116, lot 1471
GB G116-1471r.jpg

This specimen was lot 1471 in Goldberg sale 116 (Los Angeles, June 2020), where it sold for $600. The catalog description[1] noted, "Great Britain. Halfpenny, 1775. George III. Mint state with original mint red intact. PCGS graded MS-64 Red." This type was issued 1770-75. It is not rare but it did little to alleviate the small change shortage of the late eighteenth century. The next half penny issue is dated 1799.

Recorded mintage: unknown.

Specification: copper.

Catalog reference: S.3774; KM-601.
