This specimen was lot 2955 in Goldberg sale 98 (Los Angeles, June 2017), where it sold for $564. The catalog description[1] noted, "Great Britain. Halfpenny, 1774. George III. Obverse: Slightly modified laureate bust of king right. Reverse: Britannia. Mint state. A scarcer date in all grades, especially the highest. PCGS graded MS-62 Brown. WINGS." This type was issued 1770-75. It is not rare but it did little to alleviate the small change shortage of the late eighteenth century. The next half penny issue is dated 1799.
Recorded mintage: unknown.
